The GMC Yukon is a tough full-size SUV available in standard and extra long XL bodystyles that tows up to 8,500 lbs. and shares its underpinnings with the lesser Chevy Tahoe and the luxurious Cadillac Escalade. While the former two are limited to one engine choice only, the Yukon combines the powertrains of both: a base 5.3-liter V8 that sends 355 hp to a 6-speed automatic and an even stronger 6.2-liter V8 deploying a generous 420 hp to a 10-speed automatic on Denali models. Aided by optional all-wheel-drive, the Yukon offers surefooted handling and a comfortable ride, but rolls significantly in corners. What it lacks in sportiness, though, it makes up for with generous interior space and seating for up to nine in a quiet and nicely built cabin.
Changes for 2018
The GMC Yukon Denali receives minor exterior changes for 2018 and benefits from a more efficient 10-speed automatic transmission. Apart from that the tire pressure monitor on all models now features tire fill alert.
