The Volkswagen Tiguan is an upscale compact SUV that seats five in a spacious and well-built cabin. Powered by a fine 2-liter turbo 4-cylinder mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, the Tiguan combines a smooth ride with sporty handling and optional all-wheel-drive. Cargo space in the Tiguan is confined, however, whereas safety equipment fairly comprehensive.
Changes for 2016
The VW Tiguan adds a host of new upgrades for 2016. The entry-level S trim line now comes with MIB II infotainment systems with 5-inch touchscreen and USB, Keyless access with push-button start, V-Tex leatherette seating surfaces, heated front seats, power driver's seat recline, heated washer nozzles and automatic headlights with rain-sensing wipers and auto-dimming mirror. The R-Line is now positioned just above the S trim and receives MIB II infotainment with a 6.3-inch touchscreen, USB and VW Car-Net App-Connect. A panoramic sunroof is now standard on the SE, along with 18-inch New York aluminum-alloy wheels, Bi-Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and the Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), LED rear license plate lights, foglights with cornering function, full power driver's seat and power passenger seat recline, as well as chrome exterior applications. At the top-of-the-line, the SEL upgrades to 19-inch Savannah aluminum-alloy wheels with wheel arch extensions, sport suspension, leather seat-upholstery, memory driver's seat, and power folding door mirrors.
